5-Pillar Model – “You Pay, We Remove CO2”
Carbon removal certificates verification and awarding process
A carbon removal supplier makes a claim on the net-negativity of their products by presenting evidence based on a Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) or an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) attesting that the product has absorbed more CO2 that it has emitted.
Based on this evidence, compliance is validated by an independent assessor, who visits the production facility, validates the accuracy of data and issues an audit statement.
Carbon Removal Certificates for every metric ton of CO2 removed and stored are issued based on the verified volume of extra carbon absorbed.
Based on the amount of each transaction made by using Pay4Climate pro-climate checkout option, a number of certificates are distributed to companies who want to neutralize their emissions with CO2 removals and become climate positive.
